"An opportunity to be driven around and enjoy the Bayou City's odd, yet, lovely, eccentricities" - Joel Luks, Culturemap

Our renowned Eyeopener Tours are art-filled afternoons and weekend trips of creative exploring and one-of-a-kind experiences. Each tour is different and will allow you a glimpse inside the creative minds and spaces that make our city and our country unique.

October 21, 2012 - Houston's Graveyards: The Gateway to Eternity

10.21-cemetary-tour-flyerweb.jpg

Join us Sunday, October 21 at 1pm as the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art presents its renown expert on Houston’s historic cemeteries. Marks Hinton will lead one of his fascinating tours of our city’s historic burying grounds. Visit the final resting places of some of our most famous and interesting forefathers – philanthropist George Herman, Reverend Jack Yates, entrepreneur Howard Hughes, movie star Gene Tierney and many, many more. Stroll through the beautiful marble orchards of Glenwood, College Park, Founds and others. Hear tales of triumph and tragedy as we celebrate the lives of these fascinating Houstonians. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to do what Texas Monthly called “one of the 50 things every Texan should do.” Take an Orange Show Eyeopener Tour. (Comfortable walking shoes are a must)
