Various sites in Galveston
Event Description
On September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike struck Galveston with incredible force, but Galvestonians' spirit was stronger. Experience several of the island's artistically diverse, restored spaces. Lunch is at the historic Mosquito Cafe located in the East End Historic District.
75% of the island was flooded and some places had more than 8' of water. Ike caused 2.3 billion dollars of damage. But, Galvestonians are a hardy lot who love their island! Whether they are BOI (born on the island) or IBC (islander by choice) they are proud to live in Galveston. After the initial shock of the storm damage, islanders got to work cleaning up and repairing structures. Restoration continues to this day.
Luxury bus with snacks, adult libations and fabulous people leaves from the Orange Show promptly at 10am on Sunday, November 14 and returns approximately 6pm. Price is $55 for Orange Show Members and $75 for non-members - includes lunch
